Tips for the Poe Project
Once you tackle this first project, the second two won't seem as complex. First things first: in the blue "Order & Chaos" button, there is a folder entitled "The Poe Project." Inside this are links to each of the four parts. Second, you will not submit any pieces of the project until you have completed all four parts; once you're done, then you will be able to upload and submit all the necessary pieces to the assignment submission link. Now, let's look at some helpful tips and tricks for each part:
Part 1: You need to read and analyze two of Edgar Allen Poe's poems. While you can access these by clicking on "The Poe Project" folder in the blue "Order & Chaos" button, here are some fun links to both of these poems:
*"Annabel Lee": Click here to read the poem.
*"The Raven": Click here to read the poem and learn about the literary devices used.
*After reading these poems, complete the worksheet. If you need some definitions of the literary terms, use this handout.
Part 2: Listen to one of the poems. Then listen to it again. Here are the audio links:
*"Annabel Lee": Click here to listen to the poem.
*"The Raven": Click here to listen to the poem. Or, even better, watch this clip from "The Simpsons"!
*After listening to one of the poems, complete the worksheet.
Part 3: Write your own poem. Use the same mood and tone that Poe uses in his poems. Write about love, the supernatural, scary, or funny. Tell the whole story in your poem; it should probably be at least 15-20 lines. Remember to save it as Rich Text Format. For more help with this parody, use this document.
Part 4: Record your poem. If you need more help with how to complete a recording, click here.
Once you're done with all four parts, you are ready to submit all your work to the Poe Project assignment link. To see how your work will be graded, look at the rubric.
