War Poets Project
This is the second project of the course and deals with, you guessed it, poems about war! Similar to the Poe Project, this one also has four parts that must be completed before submitting your work to the assignment submission link. A few reminders:
Part 1: Read and analyze two poems. Again, while you can find links to these poems in the "War Poets Project" folder in the blue "War & Peace" button, here are other reading options:
*"The Man He Killed": Click here to read this poem (if you need to listen to the poem, there's a handy recording at that link!).
*"Dulce et Decorum Est": Click here to read this poem (again, listen to it while reading it...this will aid in your understanding of the poem).
*After reading these poems, complete the first worksheet. Need descriptions of the literary terms? Use this document.
Part 2: Read and analyze a second poem:
*"The Death of the Ball Turret Gunner": Click here to read the poem, then watch this video clip.
*After completing that task, complete the second worksheet (if you're having a hard time working with the PDF file, use this RTF file instead).
Part 3: Complete the speaking part by recording your own reading of one of the three poems. To learn more about making a recording, click here.
Part 4: Write a persuasive essay on the following topic: Should nations outlaw war as inhumane? For help organizing your essay, check out this PDF document.
Once you have completed all four parts of the project and reviewed the rubric to see how you will be graded, you are ready to submit your assignment to the War Poets Project assignment submission link.
