Rip Van Winkle Project
The third project of the class is the Rip Van Winkle Project. Again, this project has four parts and you will not submit any parts until you have completed all of them. Let's break it down for you:
Part 1: This first part requires that you check out the art and video links (again, use the "Rip Van Winkle Project" folder in the blue "Time" button). Once you have looked at and pondered the visual items, complete this worksheet.
Part 2: Read the story "Peter Klaus the Goatherd;" if you'd like, you can download the story here. After you have finished reading, complete the Venn Diagram that compares this story to "Rip Van Winkle"; use this worksheet.
Part 3: Create a recording. You will read the notes you made in part two about the similarities and differences between the stories. If you need help making a recording, visit this page.
Part 4: Write a creative story that uses many of the same techniques found in "Rip Van Winkle": strong imagery, vivid settings, realistic dialogue, interesting characters, and a powerful ending. For a great look at how such a story might sound, click on the following link: http://www.chatterboxtheater.org/node/326#. Here you’ll find an engaging recording detailing the adventures of Rip. Your finished story should be 2-3 pages in length. Be sure to save it as a Rich Text Format document.
Once you've completed all four parts, you're reading to review the rubric and then submit your work to the assignment submission link.
